My garden is all planted and ready to go! I am SO excited!! :) Here's the run down.. For plants I have: strawberries, lettuce, kale, zucchini, butternut squash, onions, cilantro, peas, cucumbers, broccoli and several different types of tomatoes. For seeds I have, spinach, basil, pumpkin and carrots. Man, that's a lot of yummy goodness!

Vegan, animal friendly "pest" control can sometimes be tricky, as most people gardening vegetables will recommend killing or harming these poor creatures. In the case of snails and slugs, a problem for humans can be that they damage tender leaves, especially the ones of seedlings. Normally gardeners put out traps that kill, but simply moving them does the job as well without harming the little ones. With a bit of knowledge of when they are active, this method isn't very time consuming either. Snails and slugs like moist, cool weather. It's been raining today for the first time in a while so I expected that they would be out and quite hungry this evening. As you can see, I found a slug eating away on one of the zucchini plants, and two slugs near the garden. I used a light to spot them, a glove to pick them up without getting sticky, and a tray to move them away to a location far away from the garden. #permaculture #organicgardening #gardening #pestcontrol

popiras : Well, apparently they eat slugs... Not sure how effective that is though if they eat spuds too. Also, copper repels slugs so copper wire around the base of plants can be effective. And coffee grinds too.. Apparently they can't slither over them..! They're pesky critters, but they contribute to the ecosystem so I agree it's not kosher to kill something because it's a 'pest' 😊✌
