β’Josh's POVβ’
I stay seated on the bench, my body stiff from the cold. I watch the sun go down slowly, the sky slowly turning into shades of soft oranges, bright yellows, and faint pinks. I let out a breath, it forms a cloud of white smoke in the air. I rub my eyes to try to moisten them. Every second my heart falls deeper and deeper into my stomach. I open my eyes quickly, I look out into the bright sun, it makes my eyes sting. I close them again, 'If she is not here, I will leave. Please, let her be here.' I say in my head. I slowly open my eyes for a final time, and look to the right. Not a single soul is there. I slowly turn to the left, saying a small prayer. That's when I see her. Her slender body just a shadow, her long sweater blowing with the wind, and her smooth bald head faintly shining under the sunlight. I feel my smile widen as she gets closer. "Well, you going to make me walk all the way over there?!" She yells stopping at a distance. I stand up. She smiles, that smile that I love so much. Her eyes seem brighter against this light along with her perfect smile. I ignore my stiff joints and hurry to her. Immediately I begin to run to her, struggling against the sand. As I get to her, I take her into my arms and pick her up, twirling her around. She laughs, that laugh I thought would only come to me in dreams. My arms are wrapped up against her hips. I look up at her with a smile. She looks down, and takes a hold of my face with her warm hands. Three words come out of her mouth before her lips meet mine. "I love you."

[CHAPTER 55]
β’Josh's POVβ’
I sit on the bench facing the water. The faint smell of salt water follows along with the cold breeze. It cuts into my face, making it numb. I squint my watery eyes and look out into the horizon. I watch the waves build up from far distances, I watch them grow bigger and bigger, then eventually begin to disperse as they get closer to land. I watch as other waves crash into one another. Some are more dominant than others and form an even bigger wave once together, others just get destroyed by one another. Sophie and I are the waves that have been destroyed by one another. I have to make our relationship right again. It may have never been perfect, but I know that it was filled with unconditional love. I need to tell her about how I never intended for that kiss to happen, I didn't want it to happen. How that girl who answered really was my cousin. I love Sophie more than anything on this planet. I zip up my jacket as the wind gets stronger. The sun being out doesn't help one bit, the harsh wind leaves no trace of the warmth. I look around. Other that the random seagulls flying above, I am the only one here. I let out a breath of air. My heart shatters as I think about never being able to see Sophie again. Never being able to hold her, touch her, kiss her. I would never do anything to hurt her. All I've ever tried to do is be the best I can be for her. I love her. I lean forward and place my forearms on my knees. I sit there, waiting with my last shreds of hope, that she will show up.

Chapter 22:
I hear footsteps toward me, some arms wrap me up to comfort me. I realize is Josh hugging me, I burst into tears, he soothes me and gently comb my hair between his fingers making the curls on my tips tangle on his fingertips. I burry my head on his neck, the smell of his usual cologne flooding my head and senses. When I feel ready to talk I just lift my head from his neck and break our embrace. "Just take me home," I say looking at the floor. "Yours or mine?" He asks, I smile and he lifts my chin and gently presses his lips on mine. He takes my hand and head to his car, we drive silently. The whole drive I try to recapitulate what happened; my mom's charm to Josh until he said he was an actor. My father's look on his eyes, the approval that look that said he trusts me. Still, he couldn't stood up for me because my mom control everyone's life. I was serious when I said she will lost me forever, tears fall from the corner of my eyes. What happened to us? The family, the three musketeers, it disappeared as I grew up. Josh parks at my apartment building, "I thought wee were going your place," I say confused, he looks up at me "You need your family now, you need your sister not a boyfriend from the past months," he says. I smile at his response, "You are right," I admit and kiss Josh one more time on the lips. "Thank you" I reply at last, and walk away from his Jeep to my door. Where I will find my friend, more like my sister Sam and we could talk about everything and finally eat our feelings through ice cream.

You are not doing this to us and our honor," she says, and that is it. Her selfish life and reasons. Josh and dad sit quietly. "Yes mom, because to you what is most important is your social position than losing your only daughter forever. Goodbye mom, I wish you the best in life" I say as I walk to hug my dad and leave. "You will have mo future," I hear my mother say and Josh replies "Excuse us," and I immediately run out of the building. I cover my face with my palms, tears build up in my eyes. My body is filled with anger. I don't know what to think or believe. Believe in myself or in my mother's bitter words.

"Hello? Hello?" Says the girl. "I-I" I mumble to try to make words, but nothing comes out. "Who is it?" I hear Josh's voice in the background. My heart stops. My last shred of hope that maybe he left his phone somewhere, or dropped it by accident disappears. I feel my throat swell up until I am unable to swallow. I feel my eyes fill with tears. I let out whatever air is left in me. "Hello?" Answers Josh. I shut my eyes, letting the tears slowly roll down my cheeks. Now that I've heard her voice, the pain hits me harder than a truck. I let out a whimper. "Sophie?! Is that you?!" He asks in a nervous tone. I finally take in a breath of air. "Bye Josh" I say in a whisper. "No Sophie! It's really-" I hang up the phone. I feel my body trembling. I let out a sob then a loud yell that makes my throat burn. As I'm about to throw my phone I get a text. It's from Josh. I decide to read it.
'Sophie, it is really not what it seems. That girl is my cousin, I came to her house to talk to her, believe me please. She is one of the only few people i trust. The kiss with the other girl was not my intention. I would never do that to you, you know that. I care for you Sophie, please believe me. I will be waiting for you tomorrow at the beach we went to everyday for summer. Please come if you want me to explain everything. If you do not show up, I know that you do not want me anymore. I understand that. I hope to see you tomorrow. If you do not come, know that I will always love you. Forever.'

I head out of the hospital as soon as I can, anger makes my heart beat raise. I feel my head throbbing, my veins pumping rapidly. I get in my car and turn it on as fast as I can. All I want to do right now is be away from here. I told Sophie now, because I didn't want to spend the rest of my life living with this secret in my head and I knew she was strong enough to handle it. "SHIT!" I yell hitting my steering wheel as hard as I can. "SHIT SHIT SHIT!" I repeat, my teeth strongly gritted together. I don't know where I'm driving, the anger has taken over my entire body. I tried to be honest with Sophie, and this is what I get out of it. "FUCK!" I yell at the top of my lungs. All around me, I hear the honks and yells of angry drivers as I cut them off. I just keep driving, not knowing where I'm going. I am not controlling myself now, my angry burning insides are. "I should have never told her! DAMN IT!" I yell banging my head down on the steering wheel. I stop the car, and close my eyes. I just lay my forehead on the wheel for a second. Anger burns me on the inside, not wanting to leave. It makes me not able breathe, it builds knots in my throat and stomach. I feel a deep hate right now for Sophie. For not trusting that I do things for a reason. I slowly lift my head and open my eyes. That's when I notice where I am. Elizabeth's house, Aubree's old home. Inside of me somewhere deep within, a dark quiet voice talks to me, it sends a wave of chills throughout my entire body. "Give her a real reason to be angry.." Is all it whispers.

Chapter 20:
I'm on the airport waiting for my parents and their luggage. Josh is at my side, reassuring me, like always holding hands. It's hard to tell, how I feel. It is not about Josh meeting my parents, is the thing I want to talk about with them. A choice I need to make, they like it or not. I see my mom walking toward us, she is like an usual mother, just that likes to dress better than anyone. "Oh, my darling it has been a long time," she says and hugs me. I stand there and slowly realize and hug her back. "Dad, you look good" I say, noticing he really looks better than ever. My Dad and I always had a greater bond, he paid for my painting classes and sneak me out of the house whenever I had to go without mom noticing. "Your mom made me go on a diet," he says and we laugh. "Mom and Dad, this is Josh," I say and Josh shakes their hands as he says "Mr. And Mrs. Howell," as politely he can be. "No, you may call us Felicia and Patrick" she says with a smile and Josh smiles back. We walk out of the airport and we leave my parents on the hotel to check in. I'm glad that they actually will stay in a hotel. We then take them to lunch on one of the restaurants of the hotel, I look nervous because Josh keeps hiding my hand and smiling at me to reassure me. It is time, I think, if they really love me they will need to support me in any way with my decision.

Chapter 19:
The same night Josh crashes on my place at night. I sit there, with my leg crossed reading a chapter from my Roman Code class. I keep on remarking the things I need to learn, I try to concentrate and not doodle on the side of the pages. I keep saying important things on my head again and again. But my mind drives me over something else, what am I doing? What is life? I don't want this, I don't like this. Why I'm doing this to myself? I will be a cranky old lady who will hate her life because choosing a wrong path by her parents. I know sometimes they are right, but they need to listen their children from time to time. I keep trying to study my lesson, and as I repeat the words in whispers, I can't do this anymore. I scream in exasperation and drop my book and notebook. I burry my head on a pillow and lay at Josh's side. He might look surprised, I don't blame him. "You okay?" He asks concerned. I start sobbing, when I'm ready to talk I start "I hate it!" I yell into the pillow. Josh strokes my hair and play with the tip of my curls, "What? Law school?" He says, not sure of what I'm referring to. "Yes, it's been three years. I hate it. I tried give it a chance, but no. What is my life Josh?" I said in exasperation. I slowly get up into a sitting position, trying to control myself. The only thing I can think about or want to do is drop out of school. "What do you want to do then, Clary?" He asks, and I realize he has been the only one person around who has ever asked me that. What I want? I rub my eyes and say "I want to drop out. Go to an art internship somewhere in LA". He looks at me and smiles, "You sure?" Josh says, making me think about it twice. "Hundred percent sure," I reply, he tucks a lock of hair behind my ear, "Then, do it. You are not a kid anymore Clarissa. You can do whatever it pleases you. No matter what you choose to do, I will be there to help you and you will have me by your side," he says and I kiss him on the lips for a few seconds. I cuddle as his side as he strokes my hair and plays with it and we slowly fell asleep. So is decided, I'm dropping out if law school and my parents will know about it this weekend.

After a few awkward minutes on our apartment, I decide to break news to Josh. "What do you think about parents?" I ask randomly, Josh looking up at me raises an eyebrow. I'm dying wishing I could too, "They are great, parents. They raise children," he says. I shrug at his sarcastic answer, "No, you idiot, my parents" I say making my point. He smiles as if mocking me, "They raised an amazing girl," he says. I try to look modest, but I can't stop smiling at him. "Well, cause those two beings will visit tomorrow all the way from New York and want to meet," I say, playing it cool. Josh opens his mouth, speechless, "wh-what?" He stammers, I look at his surprised look on his face and laugh loudly. "Well I met yours in the hospital, with any notice" I say trying to defend myself from the situation. "Believe me or not, Josh, I'm more scared than you probably are," I add. He looks at me with serious eyes, "We are talking about Mr. and Mrs. Howell, the people who would like her daughter's companion to be a professional or the one in a college carrier. Not an actor," he says. "Great words 'companion' as my parents would choose," I say winking at him. "Thank you," he says smiling and adds "but that is not the point Clarissa." I like his combination of fear, anger and confused; it makes me want to portrait him or grab my camera and take the filter out of him. "Oh come on, you are great on math! And you are charming, God!" I admit at him, he smiles modestly at me. "I'm what?" He asks, teasing me. I think, don't admit it again, he heard it once but I won't tell twice. "A pain in the ass," I say and smile. "Those are the words that mother and father taught you miss?" he says smiling at me from ear to ear. "Okay, you are yet, a charming pain in the ass" I say and he laughs. "Good choice of words, what I would have said," he says repeating the meaning if what I did earlier. "Thank you," I reply.
