"Here!" Alfred shoved the book into Arthur's hands, grinning. Arthur looked at the cover and frowned. "This. Is what has consumed every single hour of your existence for the past year? This... Thing?!" Alfred gave him a thumbs-up, still grinning. "Yep! And dude, you have the honor of holding the first copy!" Arthur was about to retort by commenting on the plain stupidity of it all, but he cut himself short when he saw the light in Alfred's eyes and the unmistakable yearning for someone to be proud of him, to tell him he did something right. Arthur sighed. "I suppose I could give it a try," he muttered, smiling slightly. Alfred took him by surprise, hugging him tightly then letting go and running off to god knows where. "Thanks Artie! You need some hero help, trust me!" Arthur just shook his head and sat down on a nearby bench. He opened the book and began the first chapter, titled, "Examples of a Hero in the World Today." Alfred had listed himself first, of course, but as Arthur skimmed down to the bottom of the page he started, seeing his name printed in bold at the top of a paragraph. "Arthur Kirkland. He's a better hero than I am. Maybe even a better man." Arthur gasped slightly and closed the book, staring off into the distance, muttering under his breath, "A hero... Alfred thinks I'm a hero." He opened the book again, rereading those words, those precious words that came from the true part of Alfred's heart. "A hero."
