This months #book_chat asks what have you been reading. I've delved into the depths of the archive, (my personal history one) and find my self reading and reminiscing of times past. The Australian Brownie Guide Book and it's little additions #mymumkepteverthing #loveyoumummwah I was first a part of the Mullokas tribe, before the great shuffle of our pack and then became a Lalagullis or as we affectionately called it the pineapple heads #iwascoolbeforeievenknewit#pineapplesrockedintheeightiestoo We learnt lots of great life skills like how to help your Mum, by keeping your room tidy, the correct way to wash a knife and what a #powwow is. Unmeasurable life skills. #mydaughterismissingout #ineedtoteachmydaughtermore #ineedmorepatience I hope there are other former Brownies out there too that can relate. I know there are a few, @eatlivelaugh @luvasnap Thank you for the memories. fimichor : Yes. It's SO good to read passages from these old books. I have kept quite a few! from my mum.. One of which is The Woman's Weekend Book.circa 1960.. I'll have to do a book chat with it .. @picturedthoughts

julie_gibbs : Oh Dee you have started something here! I too loved reading The Brownie Guide Handbook from cover to cover. I always wash up in the order taught within! And the advice for packing a suitcase is heeded over and over again. I pounded the pavements selling boxfuls of those delicious biscuits. Do you think they had custard powder in them to make them so sweet? Could go on and on...! How wonderful your mother has kept all of this ephemera. xx @kimpearsoninteriordesigner

picturedthoughts : Oh, I do hope you find them @trovarewares I have really enjoyed flicking through these pages again. Many many memories here - I got my photo albums out too, to add to the excitement, such fun.

picturedthoughts : Incredibly lucky my mother kept all of these items @julie_gibbs I have really enjoyed reading through this dog eared book, brings back so many memories. Made even more special now that my own daughter is 7, just as I was back then. An age of so much learning. I am very pleased she is a keen reader too - devouring Roald Dahl books at the moment. It's been so lovely sharing conversations with the other former Brownies, many laughs. Now as for the custard powder... That could indeed be true. X
