abigailrmc : The women in these industries are making much less money from their own bodies than the men controlling the industries they work in. I would not condemn or look down on any woman that works in those industries, but believe women can never be equal or in control when it is men dictating the world she exists within. However she of course, deserves the respect and rights of every other person. The sexualised image of woman is so often projected through the eye of man in media and film ( see the uproar at American Apparrels unisex advertising campaign this week) that it seeps into the mind. Therefore I question why people choose to dress/ behave in certain ways. I don't judge them in any way, but I do believe, very often, it is the subconscious fulfilling of the male gaze. Our own perception of what makes us feel/ look attractive is informed by the countless images of woman as object.

johannablue : @____ele____ it's not that people "want to get paid" it's the fact that people (men) want to buy it, because in our society it is accepted that womens' bodies are bought and sold. Sex trafficking is a result of this and a huge problem. We live in a patriarchal society, so naturally the world of porn is as well (and perhaps more so). What is never going to stop? I'm grateful to be living in a country where buying sex is a criminal offense.

heliotropen : A little off topic, but I talked to a friend last nite who feels bad because she's older, better educated and makes more money than her boyfriend who is kind, loving and very much in love w her. Some "friends" can't stop telling her how lucky she is (and how sleazy) and how she'll lose him soon. Whatever choices you make as a woman, there will be someone out there who'll judge you. We should all just stop listening.

You know who the only real feminist was on the clip? The male host. All he cared about was equality, being fair to everyone, and not allowing one sex to be thought of as superior to the other. I am a total feminist. Yes, I get angry about rape culture and yes I get angry when old men politicians try to make laws that dictate what I may and may not do with my own body. I get angry when I am villainized for the clothes I wear and having the same sexual appetite as a male. It makes me angry that if I were to be raped tonight people would ask me what I was wearing or if I had been drinking and my attacker would most likely never see the inside of a jail cell. I get very angry about a lot of things I think are unfair but screaming in someone's face isn't going I help anything. You know what else makes me angry? The fact that women's body issues are so delicate but men's are laughed off. Men are discriminated against too! =[ a true feminist would recognize that. Adolescent teen males are actually MORE prone to eating disorders than females. They have to make weight for sports or reasons like the media that distorts their idea on what an ideal body is supposed to look like. Men are forced to be the providers in a relationship and are really looked down on if they make less money than their wives. Men have to be in charge of doing all the paying and doting and showering with gifts and initiation of contact and initiation of sex. That's so not fair. I'm a feminist because I love men and women. A women shouldn't be considered a slut or shamed for making the first move to talk to a man and a man shouldn't be in charge of having to make every first move. I feel like I'm ranting sorry! All I'm trying to say is yes a feminist has a lot to be angry for but patriarchy isn't only damaging to women. A true intelligent feminist wants both sexes to be treated with human respect! Those women are not feminist. They are morons and cunts and they make feminists look neurotic and mental unstable.
