"As if having his dorsal fin completely collapse weren’t enough, something—or someone—has been eating away at the back of the massive appendage of Keet, an exceedingly itinerant 20-year-old male orca, currently parked at SeaWorld San Diego.
In a video recently posted on YouTube, visitors captured a treatment session in the medical pool. Other witnesses reported similar medical procedures on Keet over the past few months.
In the video, Keet obediently moves into position before the pool bottom, partly covered in green algae, rises up to beach him. Next, a female veterinarian gingerly applies what looks like laser surgery, apparently to cauterize the ragged flesh of his fin.
SeaWorld did not respond to a request by TakePart for comment, so it is impossible to know why his dorsal fin is in such dreadful shape. “I’ve never seen anything like it, but maybe others have,” Howard Garrett, an experienced whale observer from The Orca Network, told TakePart. Dr. Ingrid Visser, of New Zealand’s Orca Research Trust, said that she has seen wild orcas “with ragged edges to their dorsal fins which are very similar to this.” It’s not clear if boats, sharks or other orcas did the damage.

How adorable! This is an Asian Black Bear also known as a Moon Bear or Bile Bear (by the oppressor). I see a majestic creation, a living being, a mother or father, a brother or sister, a being entitled to live life safe and unharmed by self seeking arrogant humans. The oppressor sees a commodity, nothing short of a machine, a supplier of a product, an unfeeling inferior being, and a disposable item. Moon Bears are commonly captured and farmed in China, South Korea, Laos, and Vietnam. They are used for their bile, made by the liver and stored in the gallbladder, which is an ingredient used in traditional Chinese medicine. She will be kept in a cage called a 'crush cage' making access to the abdomen easy. These cages are so small that she cannot stand or turn around. She will live in these conditions at times for up to 12 years. If she is lucky she will be moved to a cage allowing her to stand upright outside of milking. She will spend her entire life never feeling the warmth of another body, never being able to stretch, never feeling the grass between her toes, never knowing love. This is emotional and physical torment for a being who prefers heavily wooded areas in hills and mountains where she can frolic. Her young will be ripped from her to suffer the same fait. As the years roll by she will lose her mind. Her muscles will atrophy, she will lose her hair. You will find her gnawing her paws, moaning and crying out, banging her head against the bars of her cage... begging for reprieve. Begging day in and day out. Begging for it to stop. Begging for death. This is aside from the painful process of extracting bile which entails a tube permanently inserted in her abdomen to make milking twice a day convenient for the oppressors. Today there are more Moon Bears living in these farms than there are in the wild. I don't understand how someone can be in the presence of such cruelty and do nothing about it.
