"Bleed Black in Musical Decay" Desert Center School was built in the 1940's to help educate the children of Desert Center and to also to educate the children of Miners working the Eagle Mountain Mine. Once the Eagle Mountain Mine closed in 1981, the school was forced to close it's doors forever. The building was planned to be used as the town hall, but it was never used again. It's now a monument of what was once and is no more. An itinerant preacher & cotton farmer by the name of Stephen A. Ragsdale aka “Desert Steve” broke down on his way to LA in 1915 in the middle of the desert, when the thought came to him that this area would be the ideal place for a stop as it is 50 miles from any civilization. In 1921 he purchased the land & Desert Center, CA was born. The town had a gas station, cafe, cabins, a school, & other amenities. Desert Center prospered in its early years. In the 1950's Desert Steve was caught in an affair & left Desert Center. His son Stanley bought the property from his Father and expanded it amenities. In the 1980's the area declined as the school & Eagle Mountain Mine closed. Desert Steve died in 1971 & Stanley died in 1999. The town is still lives as the Cafe is still open to travelers. "Grime Shitter" The Desert Center Cabins were originally built to house tired passengers but ultimately housed Desert Steve & him family. There were 8 total cabins in the beginning, one has burned to the ground. Each of the 7 remaining cabins are full of personal items, some of those items bare the Ragsdale name on them. Some of the kitchens are stocked with food along with stereo systems & TV's in the living room & memorabilia still hanging on the walls. Each cabin is creepy with creaking floors, blind corners & a fear of what lies in the darkness. An itinerant preacher & cotton farmer by the name of Stephen A. There were 8 total cabins in the beginning, one has burned to the ground. Each of the 7 remaining cabins are full of personal items, some of those items bare the Ragsdale name on them. Some of the kitchens are stocked with food along with stereo systems & TV's in the living room & memorabilia still hanging on the walls. Each cabin is creepy with creaking floors, blind corners & a fear of what lies in the darkness. An itinerant preacher & cotton farmer by the name of Stephen A.
